- I believe reality television shows like “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” and “The Hills” only display the negative behavior of teenagers and only inspire high school students to be more like them.
- I believe the popular blog website “Tumblr” only causes high school students to lose confidence in themselves and cover up who they truly are.
- I believe that billboards and Hollywood affect how girls view themselves.
- I believe that teenagers are becoming too materialistic and desire to have every technology that every store comes out with.
- I believe that alcohol ads only dress up and show the good side to drinking alcohol which make young adults feel the need to be under the influence in order to feel happy.
#2. Blog websites have not been that popular but ever since the best most addicting blog came out every high school student seems to know everything about it - like tumblr inside jokes. This was a website where teenagers could blog about anything that bothered them and have it out in the open for anyone to read it. Tumblr is a site where nothing's private and anyone at anytime could pull it up on the internet and judge what you write. Blogs are for people to open up and truly express who they are, what they're feeling, and what they want. Instead, tumblr became a site where you need to fit in in order to be "Tumblr Famous" or in other words, "cool". As teenagers are being judged at every little thing written, they begin to feel like their words are no longer theirs. They begin to write what will please their readers. Their individualism is tore away from them and confidence is lowered. Tumblr used to be a site where teenagers were able to share what they love, and share life stories but now, Tumblr changed into a website of chaos, self-conscience and no chance to stand out. Here, individuals are stripped of self expression and become someone they would've never guessed they would be. Tumblr changed friends, relationships, and most importantly, my life.
